With support from the Sakawa Memorial Health Foundation (SMHF), we have spent more than a decade documenting the lives, struggles, and resilience of the residents and medical staff of Tichilesti Hospital, Europe’s last leprosy colony. As a result of this work, we produced a 52-minute documentary feature — the only comprehensive audiovisual record of this unique community — preserving their legacy, honoring their dignity, and bringing their voices to a wider audience.
